On Tuesday 30th June a memorial service was held at the Lincolnshire Road Victims Memorial in Sir Joseph Banks Country Park to mark the end of the charity and celebrate its lasting achievements. The service was taken by Bishop Nicholas, and speakers included Denice Middlebrook, a member of the committee, and Lady Sarah McCorquodale, Patron.
The Lincolnshire Road Victims Memorial charity was established in 2016. It raised the money to sponsor a Stump View avenue in memory of those who have died on the roads of Lincolnshire. A lasting memorial was built on the avenue, an elegant oak shelter was erected and seating provided. Finally, a circular garden of wildflowers was seeded in front of the shelter and around the memorial, and it is now flowering and looking glorious.
All of this sits in the meadow next to Westgate Wood and provides a quiet place in nature where people can remember those they have lost and commemorate them with a plaque on the wall of the shelter.
The Boston Woods Trust is part of the community and was pleased to help Anne Bourne and her charity by providing this haven in nature.
