Westgate Wood, Jenny's Wood and Oak Wood, a wildflower meadow, ponds and 4km of all-weather paths, with orienteering trails and a trim trail.

New for 2026

Joan's Wood: a forest for the future

Thanks to generous legacies, we have bought another 23 acres (9.3 hectares) next to Westgate Wood. Joan's Wood will extend Sir Joseph Banks Country Park and become a community woodland with public access.

We are choosing tree species that will thrive in a changing climate, working with the Forestry Commission and the latest research. The project has just won a Pride of Place Impact Award.

Trees lock up carbon. Our volunteers have planted more than 90,000 trees and shrubs, including 16,000 in 2022.

Beech Wood Green Burial

A living memorial among trees and wildflowers

Our five-acre natural burial ground is open to all faiths and none. Fourteen wildflower glades, each named for its predominant tree, are cared for by the Trust as a growing, living memorial.
