The Boston Woods Trust is expanding! Earlier this year, thanks to generous legacies, we were able to purchase another 23 acres (9.3 hectares) of land near Westgate Wood.
We are calling it Joan's Wood. It will extend Sir Joseph Banks Country Park and become a community woodland with public access.
We are currently in the planning phase, deciding on pathways, parking and which tree species to plant. With climate change in mind, we want to create a "Forest for the future", choosing species that will thrive in changing conditions and working with the Forestry Commission and the latest scientific research.
We are looking for sponsorship and for volunteers. Our volunteers work three mornings a week on a range of seasonal activities, and there is something for every level of fitness. If you would like to help, contact Steve on 07759 087479 or email info@bostonwoods.co.uk.
